Nurses have a critical role in the healthcare system. Apart from being the largest group of healthcare professionals, they coordinate care with other members of the healthcare team, provide crucial information that doctors need to make decisions, bridge the gap between patients and physicians, and educate patients on the prevention of diseases and promotion of health. The role of disseminating information that helps the healthcare team save lives takes on a new level as you move from a licensed practical nurse to a registered nurse. The additional year of study required for the transition from an LPN to RN will be rigorous as you assimilate all the knowledge and skills required to function in an entry-level role at first. With time, continued education, and experience, you’ll develop the confidence and ability to administer care, prevent disease, and promote health and overall well-being.
