LVN to RN Programs Austin, TX

Changing your role from a licensed vocational nurse to a registered nurse is a natural step if you want to broaden your horizon. As a registered nurse, you’ll have greater opportunities, higher compensation, and the skills and know-how to take better care of your patients. Due to stricter educational requirements for nurses among health care employers, LVNs have been limited in the types of facilities in which they are able to work. More than 72 percent of LVNs in Texas work in long-term care facilities, hospices, and home health. If you’re wary of the monotony and long for the fast-paced environment of hospitals and clinics, then enrolling in an LVN to RN program may be a good step. Through advanced placement, you can receive credit for your LVN education and complete the requirements for an associate of science nursing degree in two to three semesters. The education and training will help you make a smooth transition from your duties of a vocational nurse to that of a registered nurse.

Austin Community College

The Nursing Mobility Track Associate of Applied Science degree offered by Austin Community College is open to licensed vocational nurses and other licensed health care professionals to complete the requirements of an ADN to practice as a registered nurse. Students must complete the courses in sequence before moving on the next. Students who successfully complete all courses with a grade C or better will be eligible to apply for the licensure exam to become a Registered Nurse. The eligibility for licensure will be determined by the Board of Nursing. Information sessions and immunizations must be completed and submitted prior to applying to a health science program.
