LPN-to-RN bridge programs are designed to give practical nurses a smooth transition to a registered nursing degree and practice as a registered nurse. If you hold a current and unrestricted license to practice in the United States, you can be awarded as much as 20 credit hours based on an evaluation on your prior education and experience in the field of practical nursing program. Most LPN to RN bridge programs require successful completion of a transitional course before awarding advanced placement. The hands-on learning opportunities in assessing patients, establishing care plans, and delegating tasks to LPNs will help students hone their skills from the commencement of the program.  Soft and hard skills development include clinical judgment to make patient care decisions, leadership accountability, patient outcome monitoring, current health care trends, critical thinking, collaborative skills, effective patient communication, and more. Cuyahoga Community College

The LPN to RN Access Track at Tri-C is designed for currently licensed LPNs who do not have any restrictions on their license. Students must maintain non-restricted status throughout the program. The curriculum includes lectures and labs conducted in the evenings at the Eastern Campus and clinical held at various acute care settings throughout Northeast Ohio and surrounding areas. Students will learn how to advocate for patients and families, recognize the patient as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care, demonstrate integrity, responsibility and ethical practices in care, function effectively within nursing and interprofessional teams, make judgements in practice, and demonstrate a spirit of inquiry. Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses.

The licensed practical nurse to registered nursing program at Lorraine Community College assigns prior learning credit and advanced placement for LPNs after successful completion of the transition course. The curriculum includes theory in the classroom and hands-on learning at clinical sites across Ohio.
