Licensed practical nurses may be eligible for entry in the Associate in Nursing Direct Transfer Agreement/Major Related Program (AN DTA/MRP) program at South Seattle College on a space available basis. The program is approved by the Board of Nursing and prepares students to take an active role in patient care as part of the registered nurse workforce. The curriculum includes instruction in the classroom, activities in the skills lab designed to encourage the development of patient care skills, and clinical practice at local health care facilities. Admission is determined by a lottery of applicants who have submitted complete applications and meet all the requirements for admission to the program. Graduates will be eligible to take the NCLEX for registered nurses.

The Associate in Nursing Direct Transfer Degree/Major Related Program (AN DTA/MRP) is open to licensed practical nurses seeking to take their practice to the next level. While the program is not the traditional LPN to RN bridge program, LPNs may apply through the traditional route and submit their transcripts for evaluation to receive credit for courses completed. The Associate in Nursing Direct Transfer Degree/Major Related Program (AN DTA/MRP) includes classroom theory, labwork, and clinical practice to prepare students for practice as a registered nurse. They will also be prepared to succeed on the NCLEX licensure exam for registered nurses. Graduates may transition to the BSN degree through RN to BSN bridge programs in the Seattle area.

Shoreline Community College

The Associate in Applied Sciences-Transfer degree in Nursing program at Shoreline Community College has an advanced placement option for licensed practical nurses to bridge to a registered nurse. LPNs will participate in lectures, skills lab, and clinical experiences to prepare for employment in the public and private healthcare sectors.
